FAQs

When are you opening?

1

Our goal is to begin taking clients in the summer of 2026!! Below are some FAQs about Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions or if you would like to learn more about our program!

Do I need previous experience with horses to participate in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

2

No, prior horse experience is not necessary for you to be a part of equine therapy! Sessions at Free Rein Therapy are ground-based, meaning that there is no riding involved and all interactions with the horses are from the ground. We encourage both the horses and the clients to show up authentically during these sessions, and always have an equine specialist present to provide extra safety and discernment regarding the herd.

Will I be riding the horses?

3

Free Rein Therapy is certified in the Eagala (Equine-Assisted Growth and Learning Association) method of therapy. In this model, all therapy sessions are completely ground-based, with no riding involved.

Do you take insurance?

4

Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer insurance. However, we do hope to accept insurance in the near future! While insurance will cover the cost of the therapist, there may be additional fees to help cover the costs of the horses and the facility.

Additionally, we will be accepting Crime Victim Compensation and have faculty available to aid in filling out the application.
